Daumenfrosch first appeared on 4chan in 2018, emerging from the strange world of early internet memes. For years, he remained a largely forgotten piece of internet history.
In 2024, Daumenfrosch resurfaced on Solana as a meme coin. The original launch was rugged, but the community took over and gave the project a second life. Homemade memes, terrible German translations, inside jokes and an ever-growing collection of ridiculous artwork followed. At its peak, the project reached a market cap of around $15 million.
The initial excitement eventually faded. People came and went, and the original Telegram group was deleted, along with its conversations and countless memes. But a new group was created, old and new members found their way back, and the memes continued.
Today, Daumenfrosch remains a community-driven Solana meme coin, with a dedicated group of holders who continue to create, share and contribute to its growing collection of artwork and internet lore. Some call it a community. Others insist it's a cult.
